Chilled Meat is a relatively common item in Northrend used for cooking recipes, cooking dailies, and it’s just generally good to have a stack on hand at any given time. Well, one day, I ran out.

After scouring the internet and several zones for possible places to restock, two areas came up as the best places to get the stuff. I know some people like hitting the water and killing sharks and orcas, but in reality, you either end up clubbing baby seals or killing really big cats.

Place number one was a recommendation on WoWHead and it’s a place on the shoreline in Howling Fjord [79,74]. Lots of seals running around on the rocks. The drop rate is roughly 40%, maybe a little more, but if you have some AOE, it’s definitely worth the grind as even if they don’t drop the meat, they drop lots of other stuff that will make the trip worthwhile.

My next favorite place is in one of my favorite zones, Sholazar Basin. I’ll talk about Sholazar in depth down the road, but for the moment, let’s just say that once I started doing some quests for Nessingwary, I quickly discovered that the chilled meat drop rate on dreadsabers was somewhere around 50%. I mean, hey, if you’re in the neighborhood, it’s worth grinding on the local wildlife. Bonus if you need some extra rhino meat.
