World events in WoW can trigger short term market boosts for particular items. The biggest boosts can usually be found for the Wintervale celebration, but occurs to some extent for each event. If an item is needed for an achievement or to complete a quest quickly and easily, you can bet the price will soar sky high.

What does this mean for you? Well, mostly it just means: Plan ahead. If Wintervale is coming up, take a bit of time and farm up some Small Eggs (Alliance tip: Westfall is great for getting these). In other cases, services like doing mercenary runs or obtaining BoP items and using them on other players for gold might be doable.

The biggest thing here is to simply be aware of the events that are coming up and do a quick bit of research on the achievements and quests in case an opportunity pops up. Especially when the event occurs so you’re not the one stuck buying items for inflated prices from everyone else.

Since the game client now has a calendar in it, it’s very easy to know what’s coming up, so definitely familiarize yourself with it if you haven’t already.
